Breath control

By now I hope we all know how to breathe properly but if you missed the blogpost on that - here’s a breakdown:

  1. Relax your chest and shoulders

  2. Breathe through your nose

  3. Breathe into the belly

  4. Slow and low is the way to go

  5. Make your exhale longer than your inhale

Next up are a few breathing techniques that I found helpful to calm myself down in stressful situations. The most simple one I can give you is this one:

  • Stand upright and lose all tension in your shoulders by taking a deep breath through your nose and sighing out.

  • Close your eyes and hold your breath until you feel slightly uncomfortable

  • Slowly breathe into your belly for 4 counts and breath out for 4-6 counts

  • Repeat 3 times

Now don’t get disheartened if none of the techniques work right away. As with anything new: it takes some practice. So let’s get at it!
